SEAMARQ Hotel Gangneung Review: An Oceanfront Stay with a Toddler

If you’re planning a family trip to Gangneung, SEAMARQ Hotel is the name that keeps coming up — it’s notoriously hard to book. We stayed for 2 nights, 3 days as a family of three (one toddler), and after the stay, it was easy to see why.

📍 Where Is It?

SEAMARQ Hotel sits right on the coast in Gangneung, near Gyeongpo and Anhyeon Beach. It’s a striking piece of architecture — an all-glass, boutique luxury property that leans a bit higher-end than most of the family-friendly places we usually cover, but it’s well worth knowing about if you want one special splurge night on a Gangneung trip.

🏨 Check-In & Lobby

Check-in is 3:00 PM and check-out is a generous 12:00 PM (noon) — it’s rare these days to find a hotel with such relaxed checkout, and honestly that alone made us like the place. Traveling with a toddler means everything’s a bit of a blur, so we didn’t get a proper look at the lobby until later that evening — but the moment we walked in, the sheer scale of the lobby and the floor-to-ceiling ocean view genuinely took our breath away. If you need a stroller, just ask for one at check-in and they’ll bring it out for you. You’ll also get a printed hotel guide along with your room key card — everything is laid out clearly, which helps a lot when you’re traveling with a baby and don’t have the energy to hunt for information.

🛏️ Room — Ocean View (Every Room)

Every single room at SEAMARQ is ocean view, no exceptions — which is part of why it’s so hard to book. Our room had two beds and a round wooden crib set up right by the window, so even our toddler got to fall asleep looking at the ocean. There was plenty of floor space for the stroller and our baby gear without the room ever feeling cramped. The bathroom was just as thoughtfully done — a deep soaking tub, a proper walk-in shower, and plush robes waiting on the hook. One thing to know: toothbrushes and toothpaste are not included as standard amenities. If you forget yours, you can buy them at the front desk for ₩2,000 each.

👶 Baby & Kids Amenities (Reserve Ahead by Phone)

This is the part that genuinely impressed us. SEAMARQ has a solid lineup of baby gear available to rent — you just need to call ahead and reserve, since these aren’t kept in every room and get booked up:

  • Baby bathtub
  • Bottle sterilizer
  • Baby crib
  • Stroller (usable throughout the inside of the hotel)

For a luxury hotel that could easily skip this kind of thing, having a real baby-gear rental system made traveling with a toddler noticeably easier. We had the crib, the sterilizer, and the bathtub all set up in our room, and we used the stroller rental for getting around the hotel. The pool area even has a whole shelf of rental gear — life vests in every size, arm floats, and towels — ready to grab, which meant we didn’t have to pack our own.

🏊 Pool — Indoor & Outdoor

The pool here is genuinely one of the best parts of the stay. Both an indoor and an outdoor pool are available, and both look straight out at the ocean — it’s an incredibly relaxing space. The outdoor infinity pool in particular seems to merge right into the sea and the beach below, which is hard to capture in words. The indoor pool is kept warm, so it’s comfortable no matter the weather, and there’s a separate baby-only pool, which made it easy and safe to let our toddler splash around while we took turns in the main pool.

🍽️ Dining

The hotel’s restaurant runs a generous buffet spread — a carving and hot-food station, a seafood table with smoked salmon, fresh kimchi, and a dessert counter, plus breakfast service from 7:00 to 9:00 AM with fresh bread and pastries. It’s an easy, no-stress option on a night when you don’t want to venture out with a toddler in tow — we even brought the stroller right up to the table. Between the two meals we sat down for, there was enough variety that we never felt like we were eating the same thing twice, which matters more than it sounds like when you’re also managing a toddler’s plate.

🏁 Final Verdict

Every room being ocean view alone made this stay feel special. Cleanliness, amenities, and service were all top-notch, and if you’re traveling with a baby, the gear rental is genuinely useful — the pool, breakfast, and overall atmosphere were all great. Having until noon to check out meant we could get ready without rushing. Just remember: toothbrush and toothpaste aren’t included, so either bring your own or plan to buy them there. SEAMARQ earns its reputation, and it’s an easy recommendation for a family trip to Gangneung — especially if you want one memorable, slightly-splurge night.
